Green Room is the new film from Jeremy Saulnier, director of 2013’s violent revenge thriller, Blue Ruin. With minimal plotting and a Kickstarter led budget, Saulnier created a vibrant tapestry of emotion and brutality – making the film a runaway hit and a great example of the power of crowdfunding. His follow-up feature looks to contain much of the same murky atmosphere and raw energy, this time focusing on a young punk band’s run in with sadistic white supremacists.
Green Room follows a young punk band, led by Anton Yelchin (Star Trek, Like Crazy) & Imogen Poots (Filth, Jane Eyre), who find themselves trapped inside a venue after witnessing a horrific act of violence. Caught in a desperate game of cat and mouse with Patrick Stewart‘s mob of white supremacists, the youths must fight for their lives if they are to escape.
The film also stars Alia Shawkat, Mark Webber, and Joe Cole. Green Room will show in UK cinemas from October 14. Check out the first poster for Green Room below. The simple monochrome artwork reminds me of French artist, Moebious, and points towards a raw, violent experience.
