Lucasfilm have finally released a trailer for the long anticipated series Obi-Wan Kenobi which will be available to stream May 25th on Disney +. This is a story that Star Wars fans have been dreaming about for a very long time, and the trailer does not disappoint.
The series will be comprised of six, one-hour-long episodes and will see Ewan McGregor reprise his role as the legendary Jedi master, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Written by Joby Harold and directed by Deborah Chow, the miniseries takes place 10 years after Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005) when Obi-Wan and other Jedis were forced into exile after the Empire and the Sith reigned supreme.
From the trailer it is clear that Obi-Wan has been living in exile on Tatooine for the last decade, where he watches over a young Luke Skywalker from afar. Obi-Wan’s sense of defeat is evident when he says, “The fight is done. We Lost. Stay Hidden.”
However, the rest of the trailer suggests that Obi-Wan’s plan of staying hidden will soon be over…
The dark-side agents, The Inquisitors, are clearly on the hunt for Obi-Wan, as we see them terrorise the habitants of Tatooine in their search for him. The Grand Inquisitor, who will be making his live-action Star Wars debut in this series, interrogates a Tatooine civilian asking, “Where is he?”
Throughout the rest of the trailer we see light sabers, space battles and familiar characters such as Owen Lars. Although Darth Vader does not appear, we do hear his menacing breathing at the very end, suggesting that Obi-Wan and Vader will most likely meet sometime in the series.
Overall, this trailer provides a lot of clues about what to expect and is sure to drive fans wild with excitement about the upcoming series. You can watch trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi below:
