Young Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds has received some useful exposure in the UK lately for his soundtrack to award-winning crime drama Broadchurch, which could help his music reach new audiences beyond neoclassical circles. Arnalds’ latest composition “Reminiscence” is part of his new album The Chopin Project, which sees Arnalds collaborating with the almost equally young German-Japanese pianist Alice Sara Ott. The talented Ott has been winning trophies since the age of seven and consistently tours worldwide.
This is the second preview of the collaborative project after The Line of Best Fit premiered “Verses” ten days ago. The Magnús Leifsson (Múm, Hjaltalín) directed music video appears to be a simple motivation story about a muscular man being trained by his father into being a successful wrestler but the beautifully contrasting music adds a surprisingly ballet quality to the sport. Ólafur Arnald’s fourth LP The Chopin Project will be out for release on March 16, for now we can sit and admire this art-piece below.
