Only The Poets Share ‘It’s Okay (Not To Be Okay)’ From New EP

Today, alt-pop band Only The Poets released their new EP, One More Night. The band, known for their electrifying synth-pop sound, showcases heartfelt emotion in their lyrics.

One standout track is “It’s Okay (Not To Be Okay).” This song deeply resonated with fans during their tour. Frontman Tommy Longhurst shares, “I wrote this song during a difficult period in my life. I needed to hear these words to help with how I was feeling and to remind myself that it’s okay to have bad days.”

The song’s honest lyrics and emotion have touched many. Its simple yet powerful message is that it’s okay to struggle and feel down sometimes. This relatability has made it a favorite among fans.

Produced and mixed by Mark Ralph, the EP also includes tracks like “Gone By Now” and “I Don’t Wanna Be Your Friend.” These songs feature choppy guitars, aching vocals, and a mature dark-pop sound. Another highlight, “All This Time,” offers a melodic sound with throbbing synths and guitar arrangements.

Tommy explains the inspiration behind the EP, saying, “We’ve taken a lot of our influences from what we’re listening to now, intertwined with Brit-pop. We really wanted to go for that big, expansive stadium filler sound.”

Only The Poets recorded much of this EP while touring. Tommy says, “We’re excited that so much of this EP was done just the four of us. Feeling inspired and recording while playing shows was a cool way of working.”

The band consists of Tommy Longhurst, bassist Andy “Roo” Burge, guitarist Clem Cherry, and drummer Marcus Yates. They started small, playing student house parties and pub circuits. Now, they’re selling out 1,600-capacity venues in the UK and Europe.

2024 has already been a busy year for Only The Poets. They kicked off a massive run of 22 European shows and will join Yungblud on his European tour this summer. They also have a support slot for Tom Grennan in August.
