Orlando Bloom & Andie MacDowell To Star In Action-Thriller ‘Red Right Hand’

Orlando Bloom and Andie MacDowell have signed on to star in Red Right Hand, an upcoming action-thriller from directors Ian and Esholm Nelms. Jonathan Easley has written the script, with the film being financed by Asbury Park Pictures.

The story focuses on a man nicknamed Cash, a former criminal now trying to live an honest and quiet life while taking care of his niece in the Appalachian hills of Odim County. But when the sadistic Queenpin Big Cat who runs the town forces him back into her services, Cash learns he’s capable of anything – even killing – to protect the town and the only family he has left.

But as his journey gets harder, Cash is drawn into a nightmare that blurs the lines between good and evil. No word yet on whether the film will include the Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds song of the same name.

The Nelms Brothers are known for writing and directing films including Lost On Purpose, a coming-of-age love letter to their small hometown; Waffle Street, a comedy based on the memoir of a billion dollar hedge-fund manager turned waffle house server; and neo-noir thriller Small Town Crime.

The brothers have also written a script based on the life of Carol Burnett for Focus Features, and are also developing a sci-fi series with Octavia Spencer.

Bloom currently stars in Amazon series Carnival Row, with his latest film role being last year’s sci-fi Needle In A Timestack. MacDowell was most recently seen in Netflix limited series Maid, and last year’s indie western No Man’s Land. She’ll next be seen in Netflix YA film Along For The Ride, which arrives in April.
