Alongside the announcement of his debut headline UK tour, South London’s Oscar Jerome has today sharing his brand new video for recent 6 Music and 1Xtra-supported single, “Smile On A Screen”
Working alongside the Dazed-tipped poet and Massive Attack collaborator James Massiah, “Smile On A Screen” is a stunningly creative jazz/hip-hop mashup. Speaking about the track’s new video, Jerome says: “In this song I’m discussing the unrealistic expectations we have of life, success, love and lust because of the airbrushed reality we are fed through media…”
In his own interpretation of the song, the Eda Feola-directed video features Jerome himself alongside his band and Massiah as cut-out photos placed in crazy, unreal settings. It is certainly the most quirkiest thing you will watch today.
Following the release of the acclaimed Where Are Your Branches? EP and a slot at Love Supreme Festival alongside Mr Jukes and Soccer96, Oscar Jerome will be going on tour. Commencing on September 20 at Brighton’s Hope & Ruin, the seven-date run will include a headline a stop at London’s 700-capacity Village Underground on September 25. Tickets available here
