I’m loving the third series, so I am so happy with this news. Cillian Murphy is set to return as mob boss Tommy Shelby in two further series of Peaky Blinders as part of a new season of dramas commissioned by the BBC. Other dramas in that series includes a biopic of Barbara Windsor and an adaptation of One Day author David Nicholls’ Us.
Murphy commented: Shelby is “one of the most intense, challenging characters I’ve had the opportunity to play”. The epic 1920s Birmingham-based gangster series, created and written by Steven Knight first aired in 2013, has become a global hit following Netflix’s buying of the show two years ago.
