Pete Doherty To Bring Drugs Counsellor On Upcoming Libertines Tour | Music News

The Libertines are back with their first album – Anthems For Doomed Youth – in eleven years. Fans had no idea when or if the band would get back together when they announced their hiatus but, with a new album on the way, things look very positive. The tour starts in November and Dylan Kerr, Pete Doherty’s drug counsellor, will be there with them. To say that Doherty had a hard time with drugs would be a huge understatement.

Speaking to The Daily Star in 2014, he said: “I would like to get rid of the damn drugs. It’s no longer fun. On the contrary, it’s just shit and kills all my creativity”. Earlier this year, he completed his rehab treatment in Thailand’s Hope Rehabilitation Centre. Of course, it won’t be easy to beat the addiction (over a decade on heroin and cocaine is bound to cause some serious damage), but with Kerr accompanying Doherty on tour, it should make things at least a little easier.
