Pharrell Williams Presents Debut Louis Vuitton Collection At Paris Fashion Week

With his well-known inventive spirit and adaptability, musician, songwriter, and producer Pharell Williams brilliantly stepped into his new role as Creative Director of Louis Vuitton Men’s Wear, succeeding the illustrious Virgil Abloh.

His debut collection for Spring/Summer 2024, which was revealed at the recent Paris Fashion Week, was nothing short of spectacular, reinforcing his seamless transition into the world of high fashion.

Despite his groundbreaking musical career, Pharell is no stranger to the fashion world. His initial venture into fashion dates back to 2004 when he co-designed with Marc Jacob.

Since then, he has collaborated with powerhouse brands such as Chanel and even co-founded a fashion brand with Nigo, who is currently the creative director at Kenzo.

Held at the iconic Pont Neuf, the show’s locale was transformed with a golden checkerboard design, symbolizing the intersection of two key influences in Pharrell Williams’ life: the classic elegance of Parisian craftsmanship and the vibrant aesthetics of his hometown, Virginia.

The event attracted a star-studded audience, featuring celebrities such as Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, LeBron James, and Zendaya, alongside renowned fashion designers including Stefano Pilati.

The collection, inspired by the sun as a symbol of love and unity, showcases Pharell’s fresh and modern interpretation of the iconic Louis Vuitton emblem. Paying tribute to ‘LV-overs‘, the collection embraces a cutting-edge style, featuring the innovative ‘Damoflage’.

This design showcases the harmony between the nature-inspired camouflage hues of deep green and neutrals with Louis Vuitton’s signature Damier pattern, reimagined in various forms like the 8-bit Atari Damier motifs, pixelated versions, colourful tailoring and denim, and stitch-like 3D pigment prints.

Pharrell’s own distinct style was on full display with a diverse array of accessories. From chunky black beanies, logo berets, an array of Louis Vuitton bags, and shearling slippers, to the chunky socks that hark back to the ’90s Fruits magazine’s kawaii vibe.

Rounding out the collection were sunglasses and intricate embroidered pearl details on each piece.

The presentation concluded on a high note, as the Virginia-based gospel choir Voices of Fire performed a new Williams-produced song, “Joy (Unspeakable)”.

In a fitting finale, the models converged for a grand exit as one unified group, followed by Pharell Williams himself, who was greeted with a well-deserved standing ovation.
