PhD Student Austin Dean Ashford Launches New Indie Track ‘Gone’

Bay Area-based multi-hyphenate Austin Dean Ashford has recently released his sophomore project titled Durags N Bonnets, featuring the focus track “Gone”.

Despite being a PhD student, the artist also recently completed his national FOMO tour last month in Los Angeles, catching the attention with his unforgettable performances and his exceptional tracks.

The artist recently landed a Latin Grammy nomination for his “Rio Abajo” collaboration with Diana Burco. He was also the first artist to launch a physical and digital world tour on the social audio app Clubhouse. Austin Dean Ashford has known how to attract attention as an independent artist in digital arenas but at the same time in physical arenas.

Taking inspiration from the likes of OutKast, Anderson Paak, Lizzo, or Childish Gambino, Austin had mixed his inspirations to create his own signature sounds as a perfect set for the indie scene.

Speaking about his new track “Gone”, Ashford says, “I created this song years ago. It was on of my first songs on the ukulele. How ever I never had a second verse until a bad breakup. Then it all came together like therapy. The strings and violins came from my friend Maria from Venezuela. The background vocals by Diamonique Jackson a talented artist and the co production with Gregatron“.
