Rebecca Ferguson & Hugh Jackman To Star In Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Reminiscence’ | Film News

Rebecca Ferguson and Hugh Jackman, having starred together in The Greatest Showman, are set to team up once again for a very different project. Deadline reports that the duo are currently finalising deals to star in Reminiscence, a sci-fi thriller which has been scripted by Westworld co-creator Lisa Joy.

The film will star Jackman as Nick Bannister, a private eye who deals in “recapturing vivid cherished memories for clients”. Ferguson will play one of those clients whose ostensibly simple quest sends Nick off on a quest to unravel this woman’s past. The film takes place in Miami in the not-too-distant future, but the city has been changed enormously by global warming, with much of it submerged underwater.

In addition to writing the screenplay, Joy will be making her directorial debut with the film. “It has been a labour of love and also vision”, she said.

“I know exactly what I want this to be, including all of the action set pieces, and turning Miami into a sunken world. Working on Westworld has been an incredible experience in learning to make something with the scope of a feature on a TV timeline with a budget nowhere near what you would expect for a feature film equivalent”.

The premise sounds terrific, and if Joy can harness the same unique vision her and Jonathan Nolan have been filling Westworld with, Reminiscence is going to be something amazing. Principal photography on the film is expected to begin in October in New Orleans and Miami, which should give Joy and Nolan plenty of time to finish the third season of Westworld.
