Canadian singer-songwriter Renforshort, has shared a brand new single entitled “Exception“. It will appear on her second EP Off Saint Dominique, which is set for release this summer. It’s following her EP from last year titled Teenage Angst.
“Exception” is the second single from the upcoming EP, the first one “Virtual Reality” was released in February. The track arrived Wednesday along with its video that was directed by Iris Kim. It is taking place at a dinner that has been deserted, we can only see the singer observing a couple in the visuals, and it seems a little bit like a dream sequence that is on repeat.
“Exception” is a sweet love song. The melody is principally composed of a guitar arrangementt, with sometimes the sound of an orchestra. It seems to be quite a personal track where we can hear Renfoshort who wants to be wanted.
In the chorus, she sings “If I call you baby would that be alright / I just want to want you without thinking twice / If I told you everything that’s on my mind / Would you make an exception tonight.”
This new song is pretty different from the last one “Virtual Reality”, which had way more energy on it. About her EP, she said, “I wrote a bunch of songs that are pretty different and picked the ones I liked the best because what I realized is that an EP to me is really just a reflection of yourself.”
Lately, she appeared in The Yungblud Show (March 16) alongside Yungblud, MGK, and Bella Thorne, where she performed her song “I Drive Me Mad” live – one version has been made with Mike Shinoda.
Renforshort aka Lauren Isenberg, is a singer and songwriter from Toronto. She made her debut in 2019 with the singles “Waves” and “Mind Games”. She was rapidly noticed by music executives from Greffen Records and released her first EP Teenage Angst in 2020 but due to COVID-19, the promotion was a little bit difficult.
