The upcoming Resident Evil reboot directed by Johannes Roberts now has a name, as the director revealed the title of his upcoming film in an interview with IGN‘s Lucy O’Brien at SXSW. The film will be called Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City.
The film is an adaptation of the first two Resident Evil games, the cast of the film has already been largely announced and will include Kaya Scodelario and Robbie Amell who will play Claire and Chris Redfield the original Resident Evil characters.
Jill Valentine and Leon S. Kennedy will be played by Hannah John-Kamen and Avan Jogia.
In his interview, director Johannes Roberts also revealed some details about the plot saying “The movie is very much an origin story for ‘Resident Evil’. It’s an ensemble piece, and Raccoon City plays a big part and is a character in the movie. It’s about this group of people all coming from different angles – some coming into town, some already having grown up in this town – meeting over this one fateful night”.
Johannes Roberts will produce the film with Sony Pictures and Constantin Films, the release date was announced almost a month ago and the film is due to be released on September 3.
