Ronda Rousey Apologises For Sharing A Photoshopped Image Of Herself | Film News
The multi-talented Ronda Rousey appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and later took to Instagram to share a picture from the interview. The pic showed the always stunning Rousey being interviewed by Jimmy Fallon with a smile on her face.
However, eight hours later she posted the same picture again, but this time it was a side-by-side image. It turns out the first photo was photoshopped. Rousey then turned an unfortunate and infuriating incident into an empowering and important message. Laying bare how the media all too often misrepresents, and distorts pictures of women.
On the left is the untouched image, and on the right is the photoshopped image. You can clearly see that the image has been altered, as they have slimmed down her muscular arms. It’s deeply saddening and alarming to see a healthy athletic body slimmed down to fit the media’s unrealistic beauty ideal.
I have to make an apology to everyone – I was sent a picture to share on social for Fallon that was altered without me knowing to make my arms look smaller. I won’t say by who – I know it was done with severely misplaced positive intentions – but this goes against everything I believe and I am extremely proud of every inch of my body. And I can assure you all it will never happen again. I could not be more appalled and hope you all forgive me??
Rousey also posted an inspiring caption, where she wrote that the doctored image “goes against everything I believe and I am extremely proud of every inch of my body”. Thank you Ronda for keeping it real, and encouraging and supporting women everywhere.
