Sammy Rae Releases New Track ‘Living Room Floor’ With The Friends | Music News

Brooklyn-based singer, songwriter and composer Sammy Rae recently shared her new track “Living Room Floor”, a ballad with indie vibes accompanied by piano melodies that describes and reminds the artist of her days before the pandemic happened, while she was touring around the world and crashing on living room floors.

The song reflects Sammy’s mood in life, trying to find comfort and value in what you own at the moment to make the most out of a little.

The artist herself comments about it that “‘Living Room Floor’ is a song about finding home and contentment in the present moment. Looking hopefully towards the future without discrediting the magic and importance of the present. It is a story-song recounting coming of age moments in the living rooms of apartments gone-by“. She indeed shares her vulnerability with her listeners.

The project was created with her touring bandmates and friends and talented musicians, called The Friends, becoming Sammy Rae & The Friends. Their sound has various influences, from classic rock to pop and soul, with some blues and jazz traces created through a rhythm section, a horn section, keyboards and two backup singers, delivering fresh and strong melodies.

“Living Room Floor” will join “Whatever We Feel” and “Jackie Onassis” on her forthcoming EP, and the band has been performing the song live, most recently in New York City’s Le Poisson Rouge, Boston’s The Sinclair, Burlington’s Higher Ground and Chicago’s Schubas, to mention a few.
