Scarlett Johansson And Este Haim Form Girl Group The Singles | Music News

The blonde-haired movie star goddess by the name of Scarlett Johansson has teamed up from Haim member Este Haim to form new super-pop band The Singles, also consisting of Holly Miranda, Kendra Morris and Julia Haltigan. “The idea was to write super-pop dance music written and performed by girls, I love Grimes. And I love the Bangles. And I love the Go-Go’s. I wanted it to be like those bands: ultra pop but also a little ironic, a little in on the joke”, Johansson said about the band.

Their first track “Candy” has been released through Federal Prism, the label belonging to TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek. Johansson isn’t a total stranger to the music industry as she has previously released a Tom Waits tribute album Anywhere I Lay My Head, following it with a Pete Yorn collaboration “Break Up” in 2009. While at the Grammy Awards ceremony earlier this month, Haim spoke of their new album, with Danielle saying, “we try to write every day, it’s shaping up“, while Este Haim added: “We gotta flex that songwriting muscle as much as possible, we’re keeping it creative. This [The Grammys] might inspire a song, who knows?“. Listen to ‘Candy’ below.
