Game, set and match.
To mark her return to tennis since she gave birth last September, 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams stepped onto the clay court wearing a full-length, skintight catsuit for the first round of this year’s French Open.
The sleek black outfit was designed by Nike to help her cope with blood clots, but it also had a powerful meaning for the 36-year-old.
“I feel like a warrior in it, like a warrior princess kind of, [a] queen from Wakanda” Serena said, referring to the fictional nation from Marvel cinematic universe’s Black Panther, “I’m always living in a fantasy world. I always wanted to be a superhero, and it’s kind of my way of being a superhero”.
Williams sure looks like one, given her 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 win against Kristyna Pliskova, only nine months after giving birth.
