Sharlto Copley Joins Netflix Series ‘Russian Doll’ For Season 2 | Film News

Sharlto Copley has been confirmed to join the cast of the Netflix original series Russian Doll.

News about the South African actor’s appearance has come not long after the new season of the series began its production. Best known for playing the lead in Neil Blomkamp‘s sci-fi film District 9, Copley is the latest name to join the Russian Doll cast.

Dropped to Netflix in 2019 and critically-acclaimed, the series was shortly renewed thereafter by the streaming platform and nominated for 13 Emmy Awards and ultimately won three.

The award-winning mystery project counts up with such cast names as Annie Murphy (Schitt’s Creek) and Carolyn Michelle Smith (Colony) included in the previously announced Season 2.

Created and executively-produced by Amy Poehler and Leslye Headland, the first season also starred Greta Lee, Yul Vazquez, Elizabeth Ashley, Charlie Barnett, Chloe Sevigny, Sascha Polanco, Brendan Sexton III and Ritesh Rajan who played guest roles.

Meanwhile, Natasha Lyonne plays the lead heroine – a New York woman named Nadia who becomes caught in an endless loop of attending her own birthday party only to die and repeat the night over and over again. Eventually she discovers a man Alan Zaveri, who is experiencing the same time loop phenomenon.

The details of Russian Doll season two like the storyline and characters’ descriptions remain under wraps and the release date of the new season is not known either… But the first season of the Russian Doll is available on Netflix, so in case you’ve missed it, go get ready for the upcoming new season!
