Up and coming Swedish producer Slowface has linked up with fellow Swedish native and rising singer and songwriter Skøien for a new single titled “Rendezvous”.
The track is one of the first fruits of their year-long collaboration in a small studio in their hometown of Mälmo. They locked themselves away to try and find an original and authentic sound without any outside influence, and by the sounds of “Rendezvous”, we can see they are up to something.
Speaking about how the song came about, Skøien said: “The song is written through the lense of a relationship from the past resurfacing. While finding yourself stuck in old ways, the song is about admitting, even if you don’t want to, that you can’t seem to stay away from this person – and diving head first without knowing where you’ll land“.
He adds that, “The song touches topics such as feeling anger, helplessness, not being in control – all while portraying it in a humorous and uplifting way. It’s an uptempo beat with raw lyrics, and when you combine all of this, you get ‘Rendezvous’“.
With roots in Norway, Sweden and Denmark that embody influences, melody and culture across Scandinavia, Skøien has been making music since the age of 15. She has a dynamic and unique signature sound encompasses the vocal flows and arrangements of R&B energised by fresh Swedish dance pop production.
Slowface, on the other hand, is known for combining elements of experimental sound design with harmonic and melodic Swedish pop and black music influences. His detailed mixing and versatile sound design help showcase his refined and authentic sound.
