British artist Daisy Godfrey has just unveiled her latest single “Fade Away”, a stunning soul-drenched piece.
Serving bluesy tones on a sea of dreamy melodic notes, “Fade Away” is a soulful love letter to the heart. Chronicling the internal turmoil of someone battling depression and no longer recognising themselves, it’s a tale of heartbreak and despair, and a fight against a loss of self, free from life’s vices.
With a powerful voice yet a delicate vulnerability, Daisy’s vocals are a plea for strength and stability, with relatable lyrics permeating the track. “Fade Away” is a bewitching and reflective song of hope, very pleasant to listen to.
Daisy Godfrey is a natural and compelling singer, and her tender vocals have been compared to Sade and Corinne Bailey-Rae. Classic soul is a clear influence for the singer, with wurlitzer, string arrangements and gospel backing vocals. Daisy began writing with Pete Beardsworth in 2018 and featured on his track “Back To You”; the pair haven’t stopped working together ever since.
With live shows between London and Nottingham, and the release of a handful of singles over the last few years, we can’t wait to see what’s next from the English performer.
