‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Director J.J Abrams Explains Why He Loves Han Solo | Film News

Never tell him the odds. Harrison Ford’s Han Solo is perhaps one of the most iconic smugglers in the galaxy. Alongside his furry sidekick Chewie (Peter Mayhew), Solo is set to return in Disney’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens; hitting many fans right in the space nostalgia.

With all the character images and trailers that we have been flooded with over the past few months, it seems movie director J.J Abrams still has a lot to share regarding his personal opinions of the characters created by George Lucas; with his most recent one being his self-confessed admiration of Han Solo.

During an interview, Abram’s explained that he’s really come to appreciate the space smuggler and how he evolves throughout the films: “There’s this moment that’s in the trailer, so I’m not giving anything away, where Han is telling these two new protagonists about how the Force is real and how the Jedi and everything they’ve heard is true. It’s cool because he’s telling them the story in the Millennium Falcon literally six feet from where he was sitting 40 years ago, saying that it’s all bulls**t“.

He continued, adding that, “it’s so cool to think that there’s a character that gets to live on in a movie who goes from being such a doubter and non-believer into someone who’s, I wouldn’t say an evangelist, but who’s validating this stuff that was so powerful and this idea that was so strong“. It seems we can expect a lot of Solo in The Force Awakens and as we reach the final countdown, we can barely contain our excitement.
