With the upcoming Empire Magazine feature on Star Wars: The Force Awakens to hit newsstands this coming Thursday, many teasers for the film have started to make their way onto the internet. The latest piece of information concerns Adam Driver‘s character, Kylo Ren – the presumed lead villain of Star Wars 7. With a brand new image released of the villain, and the knowledge that the character is somewhat obsessed with Darth Vader, J J Abrams has shed some light on his place in the franchise – including the fact that he is ‘not a Sith’.
“[Kylo Ren] works under Supreme Leader Snoke, who is a powerful figure on the Dark Side of the Force.” Snoke is a performance-captured digital character, played and voiced of course by Andy Serkis. When asked about the Dark Side characters, with emphasis on the First Order, he added “Could The First Order exist as a group that actually admired The Empire? Could the work of The Empire be seen as unfulfilled? And could Vader be a martyr? Could there be a need to see through what didn’t get done?”
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set for a December 18 release and stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Gwendoline Christie, Domhnall Gleeson, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Peter Mayhew, Lupita Nyong’o, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker and Max von Sydow.
