Starz Unveil New Trailer For 50 Cent’s ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ Series | TV News

 

We’ve had a teaser before, but today Starz officially unveiled a lineup and new trailer for Power Book III: Raising Kanan, its Power spin-off.

 

Developed by Sascha Penn, Power Book III: Raising Kanan takes us back to the 90s to tell us about the youth of Kanan Stark, Ghost’s mentor.

 

The spin-off thus offers itself an official trailer which offers a preview of the cast and confirms an upcoming release.

 

The prequel explores the teenage years of Kanan Stark played by Mekai Curtis, the future drug dealer played by 50 Cent in the original series. By 1991, Kanan was tending to street corners in Queens and his mother, Raquel Thomas played by Patina Miller, was a cocaine distributor, with a growing network on the streets of New York.

 

Just like the original Power, the series explores topics such as violence and the search for identity, but also complicated family relationships such as the parent-child relationship. The mother and son duo having to stay together to get by.

 

In the cast of this first season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan, we’ll find Omar Epps, London Brown and Malcolm Mays, but also Hailey Kilgore, Joey Bada$$, Toby Sandeman, Shanley Caswelle, Lovie Simone and Quincy Brown.

 

The series is set to premiere on July 18 on Starz.
