Stray Kids Tops Billboard 200 Albums Chart With ‘Oddinary’ Album

South Korean boys group Stray Kids have marked their debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart at the #1 spot with their new album Oddinary, ten days after its release.

Debuted on March 25, 2018, with the mini album I am NOT under the JYP Entertainment label, following a reality show of the same name, Stray Kids is currently composed of eight members, Bangchan, Leeknow, Changbin, Hyunjin, HAN, Felix, Seungmin and I.N.

On March 18 this year, the South Korean boy group revealed their new album Oddinary along energetic title track “Maniac” music video.

Stray Kids’s leader Bangchan said about the EP in a press conference, “With the title ‘Oddinary’, we want to bring the message that everyone has their own ‘odd’ in them, that’s totally and ordinary”.

For its first entry in the Billboard chart, the seven-song album went straight in at first place in the Billboard 200 chart, which ranks the most popular album of the week in the U.S.

According to Luminate, the album sold 103, 000 units during the first week following its release, making Oddinary the album that has sold the biggest number of copies in a week in 2022.

Stray Kids spoke to Billboard about the achievement, with the members seemingly really amazed about it. “We heard the news a few moments ago and are like, ‘Is this real? Is this actually happening?’ We were really surprised too”, the band said.

Stray Kids has already announced the first dates of the anticipated second world tour, starting at the end of April in Seoul.
