SXSW 2016 Announces Their First Keynote Speaker | Music News

SXSW Music have announced their first keynote speaker for the festival. This will be the first year in which the festival will offer multiple keynote speakers. In a press release, SXSW has announced that the first speaker will be Tony Visconti. Mr. Visconti’s opening keynote will take place on Wednesday, March 16, 2016.

 

Tony co-produced David Bowie’s Blackstar as well as co-producing Esperanza Spalding’s upcoming Concord release Emily’s D+Evolution, and Daphne Guinness’s Optimist in Black. Previously, he produced Angelique Kidjo’s Djin Djin album which gave him his first Grammy award for Best Contemporary World Music Album.

 

The South by Southwest Music Conference and Festival is a six-day event held every March in Austin, Texas. The conference provides access to ideas and global viewpoints on an increasingly borderless industry, while evenings are devoted to the SXSW Music Festival, which showcases acts ranging from the unsigned to the iconic.
