‘Terminator’ Reboot Adds Mackenzie Davis To Cast | Film News

Tim Miller‘s Terminator reboot is set to shoot this summer, and alongside returning franchise names Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton, the film has added a new cast member: Mackenzie Davis.

This will reportedly be a key role, with Variety reporting: “Davis would be the face of the rebooted franchise, in the vein of Hamilton’s character Sarah Connor in the first two movies that Cameron directed”. Davis has reportedly been Miller’s top choice for a while, but the casting needed James Cameron‘s approval, who is currently filming the Avatar sequels.

This will likely be the Davis breakout role many of her fans have been hoping for after critically acclaimed roles in Halt And Catch Fire and Black Mirror, plus supporting roles in big films such as The Martian and Blade Runner 2049.

Her character is reportedly a soldier-assassin, and it’s smart for the rebooted franchise to look to create a new lead alongside the returning stars. Whether that will be enough to revive a franchise that arguably hasn’t put out a good film since 1991 and has likely soured in the eyes of fans is debatable. Terminator Genisys also had Arnie on board and failed miserably.

We won’t have too long to wait and find out, as the Terminator reboot opens next year: July 26, 2019.
