Teyana Taylor – WTP | Music Video

After releasing the track back in June, 2018, Teyana Taylor has returned with a visual for “WTP” and this one is a short film as well.

Taylor directed the 8-minute short film herself and is the star of the clip as well. The video is definitely inspired by the story of Cinderella and at the same time, celebrates the ballroom culture. The visual opens with interviews of the members from the ballroom and how nobody believes that Taylor would be able to pull off a good performance.

As the song begins, the artist disguises herself with a red wig and an outfit very different from her portrayed character and takes part in a ballroom dance-off competition. The crowd is amazed by her performance and is left wondering who she is.

The clip also features cameos by Lena Waithe and Mykki Blanco.

During an interview with Billboard, Tayler has shared her inspiration for the visual and her deep passion for the underground LGBTQ subculture:

“Everybody that knows me knows that I live for that. I’ve been in that scene since I was a 15-year-old. They have been sneaking me into the balls. I have been honorary in their house. It began at a young age. So, I have always appreciated the culture. I am really just a gay boy in a woman’s body, for sure”.

“WTP” is a single from her latest album titled K.T.S.E. and with this visual Taylor has definitely gained an additional decent amount of followers. We look forward to see what the artist has in store for us in the near future. But until then we can enjoy the short film. Check it out below.
