This year’s Golden Globes could not take place like previous years, with the health crisis of Covid 19 forcing the ceremony to go virtual and the nominees and other personalities to appear via Zoom.
The stars staying at home could have made us think that this would prevent them from doing the annual parade on the red carpet in their best dressed outfits, but the stars didn’t disappoint their fans by posting their best outfits on Instagram in particular.
To celebrate the 78th edition of the Golden Globes, Emma Corrin, who won the ‘Best Actress Award’ for her performance as Princess Diana in Netflix‘s The Crown, wore a monochrome Miu Miu dress with a matching royal necklace and Cartier emerald and diamond jewellery.
Rosamund Pike posed from her hotel room in a frothy fuchsia number accessorised with large combat boots, while Kaley Cuoco chose to take her photo by the pool wearing a silver dress.
Gillian Anderson chose to shine in a Dior luxury brand ensemble, wearing a long gold lamé turtleneck dress from the Spring/Summer 2021 haute couture collection, combined with a Dior clutch and shoes and Dior jewellery.
Margot Robbie, who was one of the few to be at the ceremony as she was presenting the evening, chose to attend with a dress from Chanel‘s Spring/Summer 2021 collection.
The 34 year old British actress, Cynthia Erivo opted for a futuristic look with a neon green knit dress by Valentino Couture, while Andra Day, who won an award for her portrayal of Billie Holiday in Hulu‘s The United States vs. Billie Holiday, wore a dress from Chanel‘s summer 2021 Haute Couture collection.
Director and actress Regina King went with a sparkling Louis Vuitton dress accented with diamond jewellery from Forevermark.
Viola Davis wanted a dress that “spoke to her specifically as a Black woman”, according to her stylist Elizabeth Stewart, so Davis and Stewart collaborated with Black designer Claude Kameni, the founder of Los Angeles-based brand Lavie By CK. The dress features a silk cotton African print.
Anya Taylor Joy opted for a Dior dress. The dress was custom designed by Dior’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, and was made in 150 hours, while Angela Bassett arrived at the award ceremony in a majestic purple Dolce & Gabbana dress, and Elle Fanning shared her beautiful Gucci dress on her Insatagram account. She chose a long silky pastel blue dress.
It can be said that the pandemic did not prevent the stars from showing up in their most beautiful outfits, enough to delight the fans. Here are some of our best looks from this year’s Golden Globes ceremony.
