It’s finally happening! After months of speculation and discussion behind the possibility of a crossover between two of DC’s biggest heroes, it seems like CBS and The CW have reached an agreement.
All of this has been made possible due to both shows sharing the same creative team, and was the reason behind fan speculation regarding the possibility of such an event. Though neither networks have revealed any particular detail regarding how the meeting would occur, executive producer Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg (via IGN) have shared a statement that expressed their enthusiasm behind the project.
“We are so incredibly excited to announce something that we have dreamed of happening since we starting making Supergirl — The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up!
We want to thank Grant Gustin for making the time to come visit (on top of his already immense workload) and all of the folks at CBS, The CW, Warner Bros. and DC for working this out. And finally thanks to the fans and journalists who have kept asking for this to happen. It is our pleasure and hope to create an episode worthy of everyone’s enthusiasm and support.”
We’re still unsure if either will be considered as part of the same universe, but the second season of The Flash is currently dealing with a multiverse arc of its own. Canon or not, this would be a perfect moment for many DC fans, especially those who have felt the broadening rise of the Marvel Universe.
