The American folk band, The Wood Brothers have just surprised their fandom by launching a new song, the groovy “Alabaster”. The new tune belongs to their latest album, titled Kingdom In My Mind. The hype is rising rapidly as the album will be available only on January 24, and waiting so long seems impossible.
The release of the new studio album will be via Honey Jar/Thirty Tigers and it will consist in 11 songs. This will be the eighth album of the band and it represents “a reckoning of sorts” for them. As the american band reported: “While the lyrics dig deep, the trio draws from across a broad sonic spectrum to create a set of songs that although thoughtful and inward looking is ultimately transportive and effervescent.”
Through the song “Alabaster” in particularly, the band examines a woman breaking out of a harmful relationship and starting a new path. The name of the song, Alabaster is for a small town near Alabama, where part of the story told by the song evolves. There’s a man in Alabama waiting for his partner, who is far away in Manhattan trying to forget him and build a new life.
The Wood Brothers currently have tour dates lined up through the end of 2019 and beyond. Their next stop happening Friday at the Hangtown Music Festival in Placerville, California.
