‘The X-Files’ Revival First Look Footage Hypes Up Fans | TV News

First aired in 1993, The X Files is the gift that just keeps giving. Despite the 90’s TV series ending in 2002 with 202 episodes to its name, fans were still not satisfied. In 2008, fans demanded and got a movie, The X Files: I Want To Believe was released in cinemas, and fans were still hungry for more. And now, we’re revving up for an X Files six-episode event series due for release on January 24, 2016.

Twenty three years after the pilot episode broadcast, Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny, and creator Chris Carter, are still feeding into The X Files universe. With such a symbiotic relationship between the cast and crew, and the fans, it doesn’t seem like The X Files will ever be something we will have to let go of.

When it came to a revival, Gillian Anderson once said in an interview that “it takes fan encouragement to get FOX interested in [another instalment]“. They must have learnt from their horrendous mistake with Joss Whedon’s Firefly, which is something creator Carter addresses in this first look video. The dedication and love the X Files family have for the fans, ingeniously dubbed the X-Philes, is evident in their acknowledgement of the fans’ hopes and expectations for the franchise, which is most likely why it has been kept alive across decades.

So it comes as no surprise that the release of behind the scenes footage, the first look at the creative process of the revival, has kept the Twitterverse alive and pumped, as fans gear up for the #xfiles #xfilesrevival in the new year. Now that’s quite an X-Files paraphernalia collection! Watch the First Look Trailer. And if it’s after 5pm, take a shot every time someone says ‘mythology’, I dare you.
