Actor Warren Mitchell has passed away at age 89 in the early hours of Saturday morning, surrounded by his family. He played character Alf Garnett in the beloved British sitcom Till Death Us Do Part from 1966 until 1975, starring in more than 50 episodes. He later reprised his role as Alf in the sequel In Sickness and in Health, which ran for six series between 1985 and 1992.
A family member added that “he has been in poor health for some time, but was cracking jokes to the last”. Furthermore Mr Mitchell’s great nephew paid respect to his uncle on Twitter, stating that he was “the last of his generation”.
