Tobey Maguire, Tom Holland And Andrew Garfield Were Almost In ‘Spider-Verse’ | Film News

The new animated spider movie Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, hit UK theatres on 12 December 2018, and has been critically acclaimed by many ever since. But could it have been better?

Apparently with this news, it could have. According to co-director Rodney Rothman, the film was originally going to features cameos from Tobey Maguire, Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield, all actors who previously played the geeky Peter Parker / witty superhero (Tom Holland being in the midst of his role as we speak).

Unfortunately though, for us, this amazing idea did not make it to the big screen. Even though it is said that Rothman wrote the scene with them all together, he feared that it would only confuse people.

This is what he said in an interview with Jeff Goldsmith:

“I wrote a scene that had every, that had Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in the same scene and… I don’t want to get into it but I did write that scene, but there’s a lot of anxiety, there’s a lot of anxiety around the movie generally and there was anxiety about confusing people.”

So, although we missed out on cameos from these amazing actors, the film was still full of great characters, including Miles Morales, two Peter Parkers, Spider-Ham, Spider-Woman, Spider-Noir and Peni Parker.

All in all, plenty to distract any hardcore Spidey fan from this anticlimactic news.
