Our first look at the new Tom Hanks film has just arrived. A Hologram For The King, an adaption of Dave Eggers‘ novel of the same name, finds Mr. Hanks in the role of Alan Clay: an American businessman whose life is crumbling around him.
In an effort to make ends meet, he travels to Saudi Arabia to pitch his ‘three-dimensional holographic meeting system’ to the King. But before his meeting with the King himself, Clay must navigate the bureaucratic in his way and recover from an acute anxiety attack. The film itself deals with issues of culture and the divide between them which Clay must traverse for professional and personal happiness.
Tom Hanks is once again team up with Tom Tykwer, having previously worked with the director on 2012’s Cloud Atlas. Also starring in A Hologram For The King are Sarita Choudhury, Tom Skerritt, Omar Elba, Tracey Fairaway and David Menkin.
A Hologram For The King will be released April 22 and you can see the trailer below.
