Verzuz, for those who don’t know, is a livestream music show created by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland Brand. It was first introduced at the beginning of the pandemic as a DJ/artist battle event, and has developed overtime garnering love from the internet. It has now been acquired by Triller and will most likely end its partnership with Apple Music.
As per the deal, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland now become big shareholders of the Triller Network company and are also sharing parts of their equity in the new Triller Verzuz company to artists that have been on their program, such as John Legend, DMX, Alicia Keys, 2 Chainz, Patti LaBelle, Gucci Mane, Jeezy, E-40, Bounty Killer, D’Angelo, Babyface, Nelly, Jagged Edge, Fred Hammond, Gladys Knight, Boi-1da, Hit-Boy and Ne-Yo.
Swizz Beatz and Timbaland have expressed how happy they are with the new partnership and how they have high expectations on what it could possibly mean to the future of their organisation and the artists in within.
The pair said, “We couldn’t be happier to be elevating Verzuz and Triller and to recognize, in a very real way, all of the artists who have helped make Verzuz the global phenomenon it is today. Our dream, the artists’ dream, today is realized. Triller Verzuz is a company that’s by the artists, for the artists and with the people”.
