Demetrius Shipp Jr is not a house-hold name as yet, but it soon will be, as he’s been cast as Tupac Shakur in All Eyez On Me – an upcoming biopic of the late rapper. Shipp Jnr bears an uncanny resemblance to the rapper also known as 2Pac. With only one previous acting credit to his name – in a TV movie entitled #unlock’d – Shipp Jr is about to hit the big time in a big way.
All Eyez On Me will chart 2Pac’s meteoric rise to fame right up until his death by drive-by shooting in 1996. Shipp Jr will be joined by Jamal Woodard, who played Biggie Smalls in the biopic Notorious(2009). The biopic will be directed by Benny Boom, the go-to guy for hip hop and R’N’B music videos, who’s worked with everyone from old-schoolers such as LL Cool J, P Diddy and R Kelly to Lil Wayne, Robin Thicke and Trey Songz.
