London-born singer-songwriter Grace Fleary has released a brand new song titled “My Surprise”.
She claims that this song is inspired by dating someone during the summer and the warm feelings you get, like the little nervous moment when you are getting ready for a date and the butterflies that gain wings when you begin to fall for someone new.
“My Surprise” was recorded at AfroGiant studios and was produced by the incredibly talented Femi Santiago. The lyrics came from Grace herself and Jay Sliderz. This single is a neo-soul sound mixed with early 2000’s R&B.
The R&B-Soul musician reflects the musical influences she grew up with, delving into the secrets of her soul. Her influences are great artists like Beyoncé, Usher, Lauren Hill and Donny Hathaway. Not only does she sing and write but she also pays the piano. Perhaps we’ll get a sneak peak of that in her future songs.
Her first performance was back when she was 8 years-old at 02 Brixton Academy. In 2016 she entered the iTunes top 10 dance charts and by 2017, her album was number 15 on the charts. That led to her solo-penned single “Free”.
While taking time to find herself, she got on with life embarking on a law degree where she met her collaborative partner Jay Sliderz. Now getting back to music and getting her life back on the action, she has released “My Surprise”, but this is only the beginning as she’s working to release several singles before presenting her new EP to the world.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Grace says, “I was inspired by the joy of summer nights and loving love and being mirrored by my co-writer, we were able to take that feeling from my mind to paper. Listeners can expect to feel that bbq summer vibe”.
