“Lately” is the first piece of new music from the early next year debut EP, Next Time, of young London artist and producer, Utrecht. He describes his sound as “music for outer London nights”, and you can catch his debut live show at The Pickle Factory in London on Wednesday, February 8.
The track hammers in with no delay, mixing what sounds like rocking instrumentation with electronic influences. The verses are a bit more sedate and brooding, though these do swell for the chorus. Clicks and claps add to the head nodding backdrop, very moody. The closing minute weaves a curious, almost whistling melody, along with smatterings of electronica.
