One of Robert Montgomery‘s works of art served as the background of the Valentino Fall 2019 show on Sunday. The big installation glowed at the edge of the runway “The people you love become ghosts inside of you and like this you keep them alive”.

Pierpaolo Piccolini (Valentino’s Designer) offered a collection dedicated to love and to the power of words and clothes. He also gave to the guests a booklet of poems titled On Love, which described and highlighted the romance of the clothes and the freedom of imagination at the Roman fashion house.
The designer asked four contemporary poets to interpret his latest wears via words on the booklet, including Greta Bellamacina, a published author who was short-listed for Young Poet Laureate of London in 2014; Yrsa Daley-Ward, activist and author of Bone and The Terrible & Mustafa The Poet, who has co-written songs with Drake and The Weeknd.
The atmosphere was passionate and rarefied thanks to the soundtrack that brought the models on the catwalk: “Moments In Love” by Art of Noise, “Enjoy The Silence” by Depeche Mode and “Kissing You“, sung by Des’ree (taken from the 1996 Romeo + Juliet movie).
Maxi bucket hats and capes of different lengths were the main accessories for the clothes, everything decorated with big flowers and kisses taken from works of art. Black-and-white are the basic colours of an autumn palette with some orange, yellow, green, red and pink brush strokes matched.
