Wale + Jacquees – Black Bonnie | Music Video

Never one to shy away from his afro-centricity and always in poetic fashion, Wale celebrates black love through the ages in his brand new visuals for “Black Bonnie”.

Leading with the text, “Beside every good man, is a great woman,” The Yasha Gruben-directed clip stars the DC rapper as Clyde (a salute to the notorious duo) with him and his Bonnie together as they live out romantical historical fantasies. As the reigning chef in the African kingdom to the untouchable leader of the Black Panther Party in the thick of the 1970’s, embellished with leather jackets.

Nonviolent protests turn into kids playing with water guns, as Wale travels to the ’90s and still kicks it with the same girl. The video ends with a flashback, as Clyde introduces himself to Bonnie for the first time in a coffee shop.

This Jacquees-assisted single is taken from his March EP It’s Complicated. The D.C. rapper has been in the studio every day for the past two months and is now readying his sixth album for release later this year.
