Nerds worldwide will rejoice knowing that Wonder Woman 2 has been given an official release date; Warner Bros. were able to confirm yesterday evening that Gal Gadot will return to our screens as everyone’s now favourite superhero on December 13, 2019.
The date had already been penciled in by Warner Bros as an “untitled event film”, but the announcement means fans can get excited for the already anticipated sequel. Wonder Woman only premiered in May this year, but has sky rocketed to both acclaim and commercial success, netting in over $769 million in domestic and international takings.
There has been no confirmation as to whether Patty Jenkins will return to direct, but it was reported in June that she had already been working on a script for the sequel alognside Geoff Johns. The film is expected to take place in the USA instead of Europe, and somewhere else in the past rather than World War I.
Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman can next be seen in Justice League, set to premiere this November. There’s a while to go before December 13, 2019, so in the meantime we can expect to put more titles to dates.
