Paramount have released the first trailer for upcoming horror film A Quiet Place.
Both directed by and starring John Krasinski, alongside his real-life wife Emily Blunt and child actors Noah Jupe (Suburbicon) and Millicent Simmonds (Wonderstruck), the film follows a family living in the woods who must live in silence, lest they summon some sort of unknown threat that preys on sound.
The trailer is a home-run, an incredibly effective teaser that highlights the basic premise of the plot and really leans into the pregnant silences. Silence is arguably the most useful tool at the disposal of a horror director, and if A Quiet Place fills its runtime with the kind of unnerving silence the trailer promises, we could be looking at the first hit horror film of 2018.
It will also be interesting to see how real-life partners Blunt and Krasinski work together on screen. A Quiet Place is set to arrive in cinemas April 6, 2018. This year around the same time saw the release of Get Out, which went on to be a massive hit. Could we be looking at a similar success story with this?
