“Mystery” is the brand new single from Welsh indie folk singer, songwriter and musician Alcie Bela, which she produced with her music and life partner, award wining Welsh blues singer songwriter Jack Ellis.
The track is part of a 5-track EP that the pair have produced together titled Botanical Imaginations, and it comes on the back of two previously released single “Forest”, “Don’t Leave Me Hanging” and “Snake Eyes”. The EP is reportedly the precursor to the upcoming debut album from Alcie Bela.
Speaking about the inspiration behind “Mystery”, Alcie Bela says, “It’s a moody folktronic track about finding empowerment after a traumatic relationship. It will feature on my debut EP ‘Botanical Imaginations’ out shortly after“.
Alcie Bela began working on her new music and upcoming projects after going solo during the global pandemic and moving to France after her home in South Wales was devastated by a house fire.
The project sees Bela taking inspiration from the likes of Florence and The Machine, Aurora and Grace Slick, to create a certain kind of alternative feminist pop that also takes a page out of MARINA’s book. It encapsulates recovering from traumatic times, embracing lockdown, losing everything to the flames and getting back on her feet to walk into a new life in the French wilderness.
