What You Missed From The First Day At Venezia Film Festival | Film News

The Venezia Film Festival is here once again to give a spotlight to the upcoming movies that we all are going to love. The first day has been a rollercoaster of emotions. In fact, the festival has welcomed Ryan Gosling, Naomi Watts and Vanessa Redgrave so far.

 

This festival is one of the oldest of its kind in the world and each year it is considered a ‘preview’ for the Oscars due to it usually happens that the movies that win prizes at Venezia happen to win Oscars too, like The Shape Of Water for example.

 

This year the jury is composed of director Guillermo del Toro, Christoph Waltz, Taika Waititi, Naomi Watts, Malgorzata Szumowska, Trine Dyrholm and Nicole Garcia. On the first day the audience had the chance to watch two of the most awaited movies of the festival: The First Man and Sulla Mia Pelle.

 

 

The First Man is the new movie directed by Damien Chazelle about legendary astronaut Neil Armstrong‘s adventure to the moon, played out by Ryan Gosling. The cast were in the audience during the screening and the movie was considered a huge sucesss.

 

 

But the big event was the screening of an Italian movie Sulla Mia Pelle produced by Netflix. In fact, you will be able to see it in the next days on Netflix.com. The Italian cast were described as “perfect” and “emotional“. The movie is about the last days of Stefano Cucchi, an Italian boy who died during custody in a Roman prison.

 

At the end of the first day, Vanessa Redgrave was been awarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award for her amazing career, gracing iconic films like Mission Impossible and Camelot. In her speech, she gave mention to the tragedy of migrants.
