When Fashion Meets Grunge For Balmain’s Collection At Paris Fashion Week | Fashion News

Balmain always gives great shows at Paris Fashion Week and, even this time, it didn’t disappointed us.

The fashion house delivered a strong message inspired by the lead 90s grunge band to express themes such as youth, power and diversity.

Nirvana’s “powerful music of rebellion” was also the show’s soundtrack, which accompanied Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Jourdan Dunn on the catwalk with one of their biggest hit, “Smell Like A Teen Spirit”.

Balmain’s woman is not timid and shows fiercely gold and brown outfits with animal prints and gold metal lips. Leather, acid treatments and band tees gives the grunge touch to the collection along with animal prints, fringing, crystals and T-shirts with panels featuring images of lions, wolves and eagles.

Behind the scenes, Olivier Rousteing – the fashion house’s designer – spoke about a collection for “the new Amazonian” woman. In his shows, he has always looked for diversity, expecialy in a moment when the theme of diversity is still an issue in the fashion industry.
