For those of you who are interested in the upcoming Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them and tone and style of the film you will be pleased to hear that producer David Heyman has offered us a small glimpse. In an exclusive interview with EW Heyman revealed that ”[Fantastic Beasts has] got the charm of the fourth, It’s like the fourth. Mike talked about the fourth as being like an Indian musical — and it’s not that, but it’s got the humor of of that film. It has the romantic comedy, that fish-out-of-water humor, that very human, natural character comedy”.
It is however an interesting and somewhat unexpected approach. Considering that David Yates is directing you would think that the prequel would adhere more closely to the last four films, that were considerably darker. Heymen did however add that there would be a darker element to the film “David is always looking for truthful, human moments, it’s never just a gag, he’s grounding [the storytelling moments] in a reality. [Beasts] is very funny, it’s got a big heart, and there’s darkness too”.
From the sound of it the film will have a little bit of everything and something for all ages and it’s nice to hear that Yates has fetched inspiration from Mike Newell. Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them is set for a November, 2016 release.
