Following rumours that the X Factor would not be renewed in 2016 after plummeting ratings, a spokesman for ITV has confirmed that the singing competition won’t be rested this year and will remain with ITV, alongside Britain’s Got Talent. The latest series of the show was consistently beaten by BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing in a ratings war, as it struggled to surpass the 7 million mark.
However, the spokesman quickly stomped on the rumours, explaining: “The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent contracts come up for renewal after the latest series air later this year, and we fully intend to continue with both shows into 2017 and beyond“. Will the ratings ever improve for Simon Cowell‘s beloved creation? Only time will tell…
