British band Years & Years have finally announced the details of their second album, Palo Santo . The trio, composed of Olly Alexander, Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Türkmen are described as a synthpop band who encorporate 90’s house elements.
The band released their debut album titled Communion in 2015 with big hits like “King“, “Take Shelter“, “Real” and “Shine“.
Years & Years announced their second album with a trailer for a short film which is narrated by Dame Judi Dench. The short film was directed by Fred Rowson and stars Alexander, the main vocalist, Dench and cult Thai actor Vithaya Pansringarm. They also released the cover art and the tracklist sequentially on their Instagram stories.
They explained the plot of the short film and the concept album: “Palo Santo has also become a city on a distant planet, on which human beings are a rare commodity, worshipped and idolized by an android society. Olly, along with the final humans, is recruited to perform in a series of bizarre erotic cabarets, for an artificial master known only as ‘The Showman’“.
Palo Santo will be released on July 6 and you can see tracklist, the artwork and the trailer below:
