Yves Tumor – Applaud | New Music

US experimental artist Yves Tumor is back with a new song called “Applaud”. The track features guest appearances from New Orleans musician/actor Hirakich and LA-based producer Napolian.

“Applaud” is the first offering from Yves Tumor since 2018’s LP Safe In The Hands Of Love, a genre-bending record dropped with no prior announcement, which earned Yves recognition as a ground-breaking experimental artist.

A few months after the surprise album’s premiere, the Tennessee-born producer, whose real name is Sean Bowie, shared a meaningful music video to accompany his atmospheric ambient pop song “Noid”. The cinematic clip was directed by Andreas Brauning and explored the issue of police brutality

In November last year, Yves Tumor teamed up with Blood Orange and Ian Isiah for a new remix of Negro Swan’s track “Smoke” featuring lines from Dev Hynes dedicated to his deceased fellow rapper Mac Miller.

Like the artist’s previous works, “Applaud” escapes genre boundaries. The track has a strong rhythm section and gritty instrumentals layered over subtle vocals wrapped with a female voice reciting the lines: “I don’t know what to do/ But my eyes are on you”.
