Zoë Kravitz To Play Catwoman In The New ‘Batman’ Movie | Film News

Warner Bros. has confirmed that Big Little Lies star Zoe Kravitz will play the role of Catwoman in the new Batman movie, starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne.

Lenny Kravitz’s daughter will play a beloved character of the Batman’s universe, which has been previously interpreted by such actresses as Anne Hathaway in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. This role was strongly coveted and Kravitz had to compete alongside Ana de Armas, Ella Balinska and Eiza González for it.

Castings have been more central in the production of a Batman movie, than ever before it seems. Indeed, the new film aims to offer a new grounded take on Batman’s universe and characters, a kind of point of view, which might be similar to the one we saw in the new The Joker movie.

As director Matt Reeves recently explained, the movie will offer “a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale. It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been”.

The production will reportedly begin late this year or early 2020, with a summer 2021 release date confirmed.
